[OT] T962C Reflow Oven Issue

David Duffy (AVD)
Does anyone here have a T962C reflow oven? We got one last week and
found that the timing is way off. For every second that passes on the
display, 1.5 seconds passes in real time. This means the boards are in
for too long and start to burn. I've sent the AliExpress seller a
message but thought I'd ask here too as they seem to be a popular unit.

David,I have a T962C (despite the fact mine has a QS-5100 label, and I had ordered and wanted a true QS-5100 as the reviews seemed a little more favourable).Yes I had noticed the timing is off. You'd think timing accuracy would be the easy part.Yes the earth connection was open circuit due to being screwed down to a painted surface, as the YouTube reviews point out.Yes mine had masking tape heat insulation inside it that would have burnt on first use. Replaced with Kapton.Yes the interface is clunky. It often changes language to chinese on changing the temperature profile. All that said, it does work ok'ish. With some tweaking of timing and temp profiles you can get results that are somewhat repeatable. Also on YouTube are some good instructions on how to add a temperature sensor for ambient temp compensation, and re-flash the firmware... apparently turning it into a way better machine. I'd like to do this one day.

Apologies... I should have verified before commenting, my oven is in fact a T962A and not a T962C. Quite a bit smaller than what you have, looks different, could well be a different control system.

Hi Brent,
The earthing on mine seems ok. I did replace the mains cable as it came
with a Chinese 16A plug and I didn't trust the wire size anyway. As per
you other email, yes mine is the larger unit. Thanks for the tips. I'll
do some more Googling for upgrades.
